CLASSICAL BRONZE SCULPTURE OF VENUS SITTING ON A GIANT CLAM

Identified by the Romans with the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite, this sculpture shows Venus arriving after her birth, when she had emerged from the sea fully-grown. She is seen sitting on a clam like a newly discovered pearl. This majestic piece is covered in deep bronze with chartreuse yellow patina coating for the base of the clam and moss green for her clothing. It has meticulous attention to detail, from the facial features, hair and overall physique.
